エリック・ロバーツ （Eric Roberts）
1956年4月18日、ミシシッピ州に生まれ、ジョージア州アトランタで育つ。元俳優だった父の経営する演劇学校で５歳より演劇を始める。17歳で渡英し、ロンドンのロイヤル・アカデミー演劇校に２年留学。帰国後はニューヨークのアメリカン・アカデミー校でさらに演劇を学ぶ。20歳の時にオフブロードウェイの "Rebel Women"で舞台デビュー。その後はソープオペラを経て、1978年「キング・オブ・ジプシー」で映画デビューを果たす。1985年の映画 『暴走機関車』 の出演でアカデミー賞の助演男優賞にノミネートされ、一躍注目される。女優のジュリア・ロバーツとリサ・ロバーツ・ギランの二人は実妹。エマ・ロバーツは娘。
