　同棲して７年のベット(Bette)とティナ(Tina)は、子供を作ろうと決意するところから物語りは始まる。シカゴ大学を卒業したばかりの新進作家ジェニー(Jenny)は、L.A.に引っ越してくるが、ゲイやレズビアンカップルが当たり前に生活しているハリウッドを垣間見て自分の恋愛観が変化していくことに戸惑いを感じ始める。
